A celebration of humanity – Christmas celebrated interreligiously and independently of faith
As part of the #FAUwissenwollen series of events, scientists present their current projects and research findings in a way that is easy to understand and answer questions from the audience. On 5 December 2025, the founding director of BaFID gave a talk on the Erlanger Waldweihnacht Bühne entitled ‘A celebration of humanity – Christmas as an interfaith event, regardless of religious beliefs.’
The lecture addressed the question of what values Christmas conveys—both in Christianity and in an interreligious and secular context—and what constitutes its significance, even for people who are not Christians. Finally, the importance of the values associated with Christmas for social integration was highlighted.
